In een futuristische maatschappij die wordt onderdrukt door een robotpolitiemacht, zorgt een liefdevolle familie ervoor dat een robot voor zichzelf kan denken

Onze opinie:
Neill Blomkamp, die ons eerder reeds District 9 en Elysium bracht, heeft met Chappie wederom een film afgeleverd die vol zit met interessante ideeën alsook deze keer het dilemma omtrent gebruik van artificiële intelligentie aankaart. Verwacht geen standaard sci-fi actiefilm maar een inhoudelijk geslaagd verhaal dat misschien een beetje té luchtig naar voren gebracht wordt, maar wel degelijk je aan het scherm gekluisterd houdt tot de laatste minuut. Blomkamp heeft tot op heden een vlekkeloos parcours afgelegd met telkens interessante films die ook een groot publiek kunnen aanspreken zonder dit ten koste te laten gaan van inhoud en we hopen dat hij op dit niveau kan blijven presteren. Chappie is misschien iets luchtiger gepresenteerd dan District 9 of Elysium, maar moet zeker niet onderdoen voor deze twee. Wederom super!
