In Face/Off zijn Nicholas Cage en John Travolta elkaars opposanten. Traveolta is FBI agent Sean Archer die een redelijk standaard gelukkig leven leidt met zijn vrouw en dochter terwijl Cage de psychopathische terrorist Castor Troy is die achtervolgd wordt door Archer. Wanneer Travolta Troy te pakken krijgt maar erachter komt dat deze een enorme bom ergens heeft verborgen is de enige oplossing voor Archer om plastische chirurgie te ondergaan die hem op Troy doet lijken zodat hij undercover kan gaan en de informatie te achterhalen die nodig is om de bom te vinden en ontmantelen. Wanneer Troy plots uit zijn coma komt en zichzelf ziet met het gezicht van Sean Archer worden de zaken echter gecompliceerd. Troy neemt het leven over van de echte Archer, “vindt” en ontmantelt de bom en wordt een held terwijl de echte Archer met het gezicht van Troy probeert zijn leven terug te krijgen.

Onze opinie:
John Woo heeft de wereld veroverd met deze actiefilm waar een schitterende cast gecombineerd met een goed verhaal en verrassende wendingen gebundeld werden om een instant klassieker te vormen. Zeker niet te missen, al is het maar om Cage en Travolta van gezicht te zien veranderen.

As Archer finally breathes easy over the capture of his enemy, he finds out that Troy has planted a bomb that will destroy the entire city of Los Angeles and all of its inhabitants. Unfortunately the only other person who knows its location is Castor's brother Pollux, and he refuses to talk. The solution, a special operation doctor that can cut off people's faces, and can place a person's face onto another person. Archer undergoes one of those surgeries to talk to Pollux. However, Castor Troy somehow regains consciousness and now wants revenge on Archer for taking his face. Not only is Troy ruining Archer's mission, but his personal life as well.
